C-21 Geotechnical Engineering and Inspection Professional Services Contract Award
Issue/Rationale
The selection was conducted in accordance with Florida Statute 287.055. The project was advertised for three consecutive weeks with The Clay Today. Selection Committee members were Jim Connell – Director of Facility Planning and Construction, John Merrill - Director of Maintenance, and Charles E. Van Zant, Jr. – School Board Member.
As a result of interviews and after due consideration, the Selection Committee recommends the following firms as listed in priority order:
1. Universal Engineering Sciences – Gainesville, FL
2. Ellis & Associates, Inc. – Jacksonville, FL
3. CSI Geo, Inc. – Jacksonville, FL
Recommended Action
Appoint the top ranked firm, Universal Engineering Sciences, at a fee of 6% of the construction cost for Geotechnical Engineering and Inspection Professional Services.

Financial impact cannot be determined at this time. Geotechnical Engineering and Inspection Services are generated by land acquisition, design, or operational requirements. The funding is derived from the project that generates the requirements.
